Home > Tortilla Conveyor Belt
Tortilla conveyor belts are made from PTFE-coated fabrics with modified surfaces. Techbelt specializes in this area, boasting years of experience.
Flour tortilla presses operate using a moving conveyor belt on the bottom and a sliding or fixed top plate. Balls of dough are automatically dropped onto the surface of the bottom belt from a hopper, ensuring perfect placement for pressing into the familiar round, flat discs.
PTFE (Teflon®) belts are ideal for this process because they can withstand the high temperatures required for tortilla or flatbread production. The non-stick surface of PTFE (Teflon®) is essential, as the dough can be quite sticky initially. The application of heat quickly cooks the surface, enabling the tortilla to release easily from the PTFE belt and top sheet.
Here are a few examples of flour tortilla machines on the market:
Lawrence Equipment-compatible belts feature a special indexing system that allows the top head to be fixed while the bottom belt stops and starts at a set distance. The belt moves the dough ball under the fixed head, stops while the head presses the dough, and then moves forward again.
In the US market, tortilla belts are typically brown. However, in Europe, particularly in the UK, food-grade blue belts have become more popular. Our stock material for this application is PS-27-NACZ, but we also offer special cast film surface products for Lawrence-type machines.
