PTFE Tape / Teflon Tape

Teflon tape

Teflon Tape and PTFE adhesive tape – What’s the difference between the two?

Teflon tape or Teflon self-adhesive tape is the common reference to PTFE adhesive tape or PTFE coated glass cloth tape.

PTFE coated glass cloth with a self-adhesive backing on one surface of the material.

Teflon is a registered trademark owned and controlled by DuPont de Nemours and Company that relates to PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene).

This can only be used to advertise products if suitable permission is given by DuPont de Nemours and Company to use its brand.

We want to clarify that Techbelt does not have these permissions and is in no way linked to Du Pont de Nemours and Company, therefore we do not advertise our product as a Teflon® tape.

The name Teflon® has become a household brand name and is associated with domestic products such as nonstick pans and cookware.

This is the same case for PTFE adhesive tapes where Teflon® tape has become the common term which is in most cases incorrect.

As we are not able to use the Du Pont brand name, our PTFE adhesive tape is marketed and sold under our Tefsil® brand which is a registered trademark of Techbelt.

The principle formula, and raw material that go into making Teflon® tape & Tefsil® tape will be almost identical and give a comparable performance – effectively two different brand names for what is PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene) adhesive tape.

Many internet sites advertise “Teflon tape” as a product they are selling however this is usually done so because it’s a common term and not because it’s a Du Pont specific product.

Techbelt offers PTFE adhesive tape (Tefsil® Tape) from stock and is available in a number of thicknesses and widths depending on your requirement.
