Techbelt Opens Dedicated PU & PVC Conveyor Belt Facility in Mytholmroyd
Techbelt has opened a dedicated PU and PVC conveyor belt facility in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. The new site opened on 31st March 2025, expanding our UK manufacturing footprint, creating four new local jobs and giving our PU and PVC belt operation a purpose-built home — separate from our established PTFE facility in Elland.
A Purpose-Built PU and PVC Manufacturing Site
The Mytholmroyd facility has been fully fitted out for PU and PVC conveyor belt manufacturing from day one. The site is equipped with slitters, an automatic finger puncher, an HF welder, a skiving machine and large fabrication tables — meaning we can manufacture belts to virtually any size or specification a customer requires.
Having this equipment under one roof, in a site dedicated entirely to PU and PVC work, lets us take a job from raw stock through to finished, jointed belt without compromise. Whether a customer needs a standard replacement or something bespoke built around a specific machine or process, the new facility gives us the manufacturing capability to handle it in-house.
Investment in UK Manufacturing
The opening of the Mytholmroyd site reflects continued investment in UK-based conveyor belt manufacturing. Alongside the equipment fit-out, we’ve created four new manufacturing roles in Calderdale — strengthening the local team and supporting growth in our PU and PVC product range.
For customers, that investment means more capacity, faster turnaround on fabricated belts and a clearer route for PU and PVC enquiries. For West Yorkshire, it means four new skilled manufacturing jobs in a sector that has long been part of the region’s industrial heritage.
Separate Sites, Specialist Focus
The Mytholmroyd facility doesn’t replace our Elland operation — it complements it. Techbelt now runs two clearly defined UK manufacturing sites, each with its own specialism:
Elland remains the home of our established PTFE product range, including PTFE tape, PTFE belting, PTFE coated glass cloth and silicone coated glass cloth.
Mytholmroyd is now the dedicated base for our PU and PVC conveyor belt manufacturing and fabrication.
Splitting the operations this way lets each site focus on its own materials, equipment and technical know-how, without the compromises that come with shared space.
What This Means for Customers
For customers across food processing, packaging, logistics, engineering and general manufacturing, the new facility means a more focused, more capable PU and PVC offering. We can take on bespoke jobs more readily, respond faster on standard replacements, and continue to support customers who need belts built around the specific demands of their machinery, product and environment.
If you’ve worked with our PTFE side from Elland, nothing about that changes. If you need a PU or PVC belt, Mytholmroyd is now where that work happens.
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between PU and PVC conveyor belts? Both are widely used across industry, but they suit different applications. PU (polyurethane) belts are often chosen for food contact and abrasion resistance, while PVC belts offer reliable general-purpose performance across packaging, logistics and light manufacturing. The right choice depends on your product, environment and machine setup — our team is happy to advise.
Can Techbelt manufacture conveyor belts to bespoke sizes? Yes. The Mytholmroyd facility is fitted with large fabrication tables, slitters and welding equipment that allow us to manufacture PU and PVC belts to virtually any size. Bespoke sizing, jointing and fabrication is a core part of what the site is set up to do.
Where are Techbelt’s manufacturing facilities based? Techbelt manufactures from two sites in West Yorkshire, UK. PU and PVC belts are produced at our Mytholmroyd facility; PTFE products are manufactured at our long-established Elland facility.
Does Techbelt still manufacture PTFE belts and tapes? Yes. Our Elland facility continues to manufacture our full PTFE product range exactly as before. The new Mytholmroyd site is an expansion of our PU and PVC capability, not a replacement for any existing operation.
